About the Author

Bruce A. Schmidt was born in Denver Colorado and raised in the town of Eaton Colorado. Bruce and his younger sister were close in growing up and excelled in normal school activities. Bruce’s parents raised Bruce in what is now the city museum. Growing up in a house that is that large, one often begins to question their believe in ghost. This was the Benjamin Eaton estate in which served as Bruce’s home until the enlistment into the United States Navy. Shortly after getting his degree, he was awarded placement on the USS Missouri battleship and was in route for the Persian Gulf during operation Desert Shield. After serving four years in the Navy, Bruce got out with an honorable discharge and headed home to the town in which he was raised.

There he met his wife, and together they raaised six wonderful children. During this time however, they lost a son, which some of the emotional content in the story is based on. Bruce spends his time working as a Chief Engineer and running a small family business. In his free time he develops ideas for patents, writes and spends time with family. Bruce still calls Eaton his home and lives a very full life.

Bruce’s belief is that the best story told is one lived, and most of this story is true to one extent or another. Bruce has started work on a second book and hopes that you like and enjoy “YARD”
