About the Book
Living In today's world, situations change, time escapes and people are always struggling to get to the top, even in the worse circumstances. We must therefore, always have hope, that we will overcome our short-comings. Since a work related injury in 1998, and three major surgeries later, I live everyday of my life in pain and in order to minimize the physical and emotional aspects of that pain, I continue to write. Poetic Climb is my realization on things we experience in everyday life, seen through my eyes.
About the Author
I was born Marilyn Elizabeth Patton on
I moved to Upstate New York in 1987 where I got married. I worked as a CNA (Certified Nurses Assistant) for over 10 years, until November 1st. of 1998. While working, I was seriously injured and I have spent every year thereafter, in pain. I have had three surgeries, including one on my spine to help with mobility. Writing, has enable me to use this gift, as a tool to promote the mental healing needed to conquer the physical aspects of that pain.
I have a beautiful daughter name Mercedes who is the love of my life. In December of 2001, I completed the MWBE (Minority Women's Business Enterprise) Entrepreneurial Assistance Program, where I completed by business plan and founded Mercedes Clothing & Accessories (The Clothing Store On Wheels). In recognition, I received The New York State Senate Excelsior Award, and Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, for Outstanding And Invaluable Service To The Community and the BSB Bank & Trust Company Certificate Of Recognition.
I am a member of Semper Fidelis, the NAACP and The International Library Of Poetry . I have been writing poetry for over 30 years. In addition to writing poetry, I have also completed a Biography about growing up in the ghetto, a How-To Book and seven children's books. Three were co-written by my daughter Mercedes, which I am looking forward to publishing in the near future.
