About the Author

A lifelong educator, Donald M. Crawford, Sr. has been Band Director of P. D. Jackson-Olin High School Birmingham, Alabama for over thirty years.

He is also a professional musician and was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, after his many years accompanying nationally known performing artists. He was also inducted into the “School of Music Hall of Fame” at Alabama State University where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music Education.

A life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, he is married to the former Mattie Wilkins, an educator at Lawson State Community College, and is the father of two sons, Christopher and Donald, Jr., both are students attending Alabama State University completing their bachelors and masters degrees respectfully. His only daughter, Dr. Tamera L. Preer, is also an educator in San Antonio, Texas.
