Beyond the River
Beyond the river toward the sea
There lies a land of mystery.
A place by God so richly blessed
‘Tis there where I shall take my rest.
A land so green with gardens lush
Where-in lies peace in stillness hush.
And by the river many trees
A soothing salve comes from their leaves.
Upon the river-bank they grow
All kinds of trees we’ll come to know.
And on their branches food shall thrive
For us to eat there, you and I.
This river flowing from God’s Throne
And of the Lamb His very own
Is bringing life to everything
While praises unto God we sing.
Through wilderness the river flows
Across the desert still it goes.
To make the
Upon its banks stand fishermen.
And then shall every creature live
In that vast land that God will give,
To those who are His very own
All others He will then disown.
This will forever be our land
For us created by God’s Hand.

About the Author
Coming from three generations of forebears who felt called to missionary work, Mark Crouch showed no inclination to follow in the tradition. Though born in
In his ‘30’s he returned to his early spiritual upbringing, which eventually led him to pursue studies in the Bible. But it wasn’t until his mid ‘40’s that he suddenly began to write poetry, which culminated in his first book of poetry called “Portraits of Life”.
In his second book “God’s Book of Dreams”, he has combined poetry, largely Biblical or inspirational and a group of essays. The essays were written almost two years before rhyme began to surface in his mind.
Loving the outdoors from infancy, he took every opportunity afforded him to observe and study God’s animal and bird world, even the intricate behavior of insects.
In his third book of poetry, Bible Time Rhymes, God’s Word is expounded and illustrated in the hope that the Bible can come alive to both the young and old. The beauty and grandeur of God’s Word is explored through the eyes of a child.
In this fourth book, “Sacred Treasures”, each poem and sonnet is presented as an exposition of a particular scripture. It is the hope of the author that the truth would be brought out through rhyme in such a way as to draw the reader into a close relationship with Jesus Christ.
