I WANT THAT CAR
“Mom, can I have that car?” said Cameron.
“Cameron,” said Mom, “we aren’t here to buy you a car.”
“You never get me anything.”
“No, I buy you things all the time.”
“When?”
“For your birthday and other holidays.”
“I know about those times but when do I get things just because it is Tuesday?” he asked.
“Tuesday?” Mom said with a funny look.
“You know what I mean. Holidays are the only time I get new toys,” Cameron said almost crying.
“I am sorry, but your father and I can’t buy toys whenever you want them.”
“I am just asking for this one car, that’s all!” whined Cameron.
“I understand but I still can’t buy it for you,” said Mom. “Tonight, when your dad gets home, you ask him if you can buy it. If he says yes then I will bring you back tomorrow to get it.”
It was a long ride home for Cameron. He was pretty sure his dad would say no, but maybe if he could think of the right words to say he just might have a chance. There would be a couple hours till Cameron’s dad would be home. Cameron hung out in his room.
While sitting on his bed he looked at the basket of action figures in the closet. Next to that were a football, basketball, baseball glove, and a bat leaning in the corner. He started to think, when was the last time I even played with any of these toys I already have? Those toys take more than just me to play with. I need that car. If I had that car I could go out and play anytime I want.
“Dad, you should have seen this cool car at the store today,” Cameron said.
“Oh really, why is it so cool?” said Dad.
“It is a radio-controlled car that goes real fast,” said Cameron. “It only costs thirty-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents.”
“Is that a good deal for that car?”
“I don’t know,” said Cameron. “I was just wondering…Mom said if you said yes she would take me to get it tomorrow.”
“Well, the answer is no.”
“Why not?”
“We don’t have the money to buy you a toy.”
“What if I paid you back?”
“How are you going to do that?”

About the Book
The story in this book is about a boy named Cameron who learns there is more to money than just asking Mom and Dad for it. Cameron starts earning his own money to buy the toys he wants. during his various jobs he meets other business men that teach him about business and how money works and how Cameron can make money work for him. Because Cameron's parents where very involved with what he was doing they taught him to save money for college and also save money to give to charity. Cameron begins to realize that charity work is more fulfilling than any toy he has.
About the Author
Daniel Scott is a construction worker that likes his job but wants more for his family than he can provide. He feels anybody can fulfill the "American Dream" of being as wealthy as he or she desires. His mission through following his own dreams is to change the way kids think about money. If kids will learn about money at an earlier age, they will be more responsible with it. Daniel Scott is a father of three kids. Lives in California, and is married to his wife Samantha.
