How Minnie Came to be Queen

Minnie Gets a Friend....

Have you ever noticed that just when you think you have things exactly like you think you want them, you find out that is not at all what is really best?  Well...I guess that is what happened regarding this “Finding Queen Minnie a Friend” project. 

I thought for sure after I got rid of “BABY” everything would be just fine and it was for a while, Momma S. and I continued to get along so well and we had lots of fun and all of her friends would come to see me and that is when I realized I was so scared of so many things!!  This is very difficult for a Queen to admit.

I found I really did not like ANY of the friends she had with husbands, OK, I guess I liked the friends alright, just not the husbands.  I also did NOT like any men that wore hats or talked loud or played rough with me or stayed at MY house too long.  I would begin to tremble and shake every time one of these men was around.  I also discovered I HATED being left alone and every time Momma S. left the house for work, or her shopping trips and especially her vacations, I would begin to tremble and shake and feel very nervous and very, very sad inside.

Soooooooo, OK, maybe I do need a friend.  Completely unknown to me, Momma S. noticed all my trembling and shaking and had continued to look for me a friend.  She did think about a puffy very fancy dog called a Bishon Frizee that she met at the Adoption Place.  These are cute dogs I GUESS, they look like a bunch of big cotton balls all stuck together to make a dog; but they are so fancy and have to be brushed and groomed and cleaned ALL THE TIME.  Momma S. didn’t think she wanted all that work and I didn’t think that would be a good idea at all because I don’t get along well with those fancy type dogs and besides all that work would take too much of Momma S’s time...time she should spend paying attention to ME. 

She also thought about a Greyhound, which I think would have been a much better idea.  There is a place where after greyhounds are no longer racing dogs you can get one to have as a pet.  I thought it would be just grand to have a racing dog as a friend, they are like me, not much hair and not much grooming and just think about how fast one could run and I could chase it all around the yard.  Talk about a FUN friend!!  But Momma S. thought it might be too big to be a friend for me.  Doesn’t she know I don’t care about how big other dogs are?  I am the Queen Chihuahua and make sure even the biggest dogs understand that.

Well anyway, eventually one day another lady from the animal rescue group came home with Momma S. from the adoption place.  They had a new friend for me...here we go again!  Momma S. came inside and got me and my leash and we went out into the front yard where this other lady was holding the leash of a small stocky white dog with the biggest brown eyes I’d ever seen.  He was sniffing all around and looking a little scared, so I ran up beside him to get a smell of him.  He smelled OK and when I ran up, he backed up.... good sign, maybe he already heard about me being the Queen and the one in charge and all that...
