I’ve often wondered what it would be like to start over. There may be some uncertainty about how or where you will start but I tend to get a little excited about getting to buy new furniture and buy new clothes. I know that no matter what happens to me that God will provide whatever I need. I can remember my Mother saying, “Don’t get upset over burnt toast, because some day you may come home and find your house burned down.” I’m sure you’ve heard, “ Don’t sweat the small stuff.” There will be plenty of small stuff and tons of big stuff. So prepare yourself by learning scripture to stand on.
Here are some good examples, “Casting all your care upon Him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5: 7 KJV People tend to think God is mad at them when things turn south. Don’t buy that lie. God loves you whether you like it or not. He created you. He didn’t create you to stick pins and needles in you. God loves you so much that He sent His precious son to die on the cross so that your sins might be forgiven. There is no way we could ever earn or be good enough to make it into heaven any other way. Jesus’ blood had to be shed to cleanse us. Have you ever had anyone to die for you before? I haven’t. The story of the cross is the greatest love story ever known to man. As far as I’m concerned there will never be a greater story ever told. I can’t wait to meet Jesus face to face and personally thank Him for dying for me. When Jesus was on the cross, you were on His mind! Just in case you don’t know it, Jesus left the comforts of heaven to be born into this wicked world, so that the world might be saved. (John 3: 16)
When we are saved through salvation, we become new creatures in Christ. Is that not like starting over? It is in my opinion. How many times have you torn things up and started over? Is not the finished product much better for having started over? Very seldom have I ever done something the first time and gotten it right or it turned out like I wanted it to be. If you really think about it we’re constantly starting over.
I’ve always been taught that you can’t take anything with you. My teachers said to store up your treasures in heaven because everything on earth will be burned up. Just think we can plan and prepare for Paradise and you don’t have to buy passports, pack, take off work, or get shots. We just need to have reservations in the form of salvation and be ready at a moment’s notice to go. I have visualized that moment thousands of times, wondering where I’ll be or what I’ll be doing. What if you’re driving? Imagine all the wrecks, airplanes crashing, trains wrecking, and the like. So people will die during the rapture. I have a bumper sticker on the back of my SUV that says, “ In case of rapture, car’s yours.” Make sure you are not left behind. If you want the hell scared out of you, read in Revelation about the seals that will be broken during the Tribulation. You do not want to be here! Trust me on this one.
If you’re starting over from a divorce, make Jesus the center of your life. He is the only perfect man that has ever walked on this earth. No man can hold a candle to Him. In the Bible, He tells us, “I will never forsake you.” Deuteronomy 4: 31. I have friends that are on their third and fourth marriages. God’s grace is sufficient. He cares for you so much. God can’t break his promises, if He did it would make Him a liar. God can’t sin! Throw yourself into God’s word and let God’s love enfold you. If there were nothing else in this world, God is all that you need to survive. Lean on Him, not on mankind. Exercise daily by walking with God.
God instructs us to build our house upon the rock and when the wind and floods come we will still be standing. Notice He said when, not if. (Matthew 7: 24-27) The real important message here is to keep “getting up”. If you don’t, who wins? I’m not about to let Satan win at anything. I just keep getting up and I can hear him moan and groan when I do. It puts the biggest smile on my face. Get smiling!
Also remember you are never alone.
