About the Book

The book is basically about the life of a young woman who endured traumatizing events during her childhood, being from rejection of her father, neglect from her mother, both resulting in her living from household to household with various family members and friends.

After falling prey to an uncle and others, she became a victim of sexual abuse. This caused her not only to doubt the very existence of God, but trusting anyone was far from her.  Regardless of being raised in the church she found it very hard to believe in this God who was supposedly so good.

Turning to a life of suicide as a mean to escape the pain, she failed even at that. Continuously trying to fill the void in her life, she became outraged, rebellious, homicidal, full of hate and even promiscuous in search of love.

After all of her anger towards God backfired, and the drinking and partying didn’t satisfy, she finally was forced to deal with the issues that had plagued her life and once releasing the anger and resentment towards her parents  and getting counseling, God had her where He needed her, a position to heal her.  Though the process was slow, He was loving her hurt away and leading her into her purpose and destiny.

Now on a mission for God, she is determined to share her life because God spared her life. As a servant of the most high God, she strives to fulfill the commission in Isaiah 61:1 and let others know that no matter what struggle they may now have or how horrible their past may have been, God is more than able to take the pain and turn it into power and take their misery and make it a masterpiece.

About the Author

Doris M. Horn- born July 12, 1971

I am known to most as Marie.  Life for me didn’t start off so hopeful and bright.  After being rejected by my father and neglected on many occasions by my biological mother, I ended up living from household to household with different relatives.  I fell victim of sexual abuse at about age 5 to an uncle.  My cousins and I never considered telling anyone mainly for fear that we would get into trouble.  As surprising as that was, I fell prey to some adults in the church that I was attending during my teenage years.

After making many attempts of running away and suicide or trying to harm others, my life turned to that of a thuggish rebel.  It was my only way of release.  I tried drinking, smoking, clubbing and eventually became promiscuous in search of love and acceptance.  I managed to land my self in an abusive marriage and became outraged over the divorce and events that had taken place in my life.

Finally after all of my hatred towards God for all of the pain and horrific events that plagued my life, He showed me that He was all I had and that He had a purpose for my life.  God equipped me to turn my PAIN into POWER by reaching out to others.

God has bestowed His grace upon me and I have been tremendously blessed to be married to a wonderful man (John) and I have two daughters. (Jasmyne and Jada)  Now in a church where I have grown emphatically I sit under the leadership of Pastor Gary L. Faulkner of Cummings Street Baptist Church and have served in capacities of Lay Pastor of one of the worship services, women’s ministry leader, working with the youth and serving where needed in the body of Christ.

For one who saw my life as hopeless and without any chance of success, I am now the owner of Making A Difference (M.A.D.) Family Child Care and preparing to release my 1st book entitled, He Loved My Hurt Away; A Testimonial of Hope.

It was nobody but God that brought me through and reversed the curse of Satan in John 10:10a and He indeed gave me Life and Life More Abundantly.  I am forever grateful for His mercy and kindness toward me and it is because He gave me life in place of death that I will offer my life back to Him as a sacrifice of service.
