About the Book
What do you say to a butterfly with a broken wing? How does one endure the darkest nights? What if one deeply loved has died without hearing of the love you felt? What lies beneath the most sacred of our days?
Inspired by the hope that resurrects the heart, this book of poetry is a compilation of thoughts over several decades. Each page celebrates the power beyond us, the love within us, and the story beneath the surface.
It is the author's prayer that having read these lines, the reader may feel the "still, small voice" a little more clearly and may sense the God among us a little more certainly.
About the Author
Born into a large family in Forsyth, Georgia, the author spent many days amid God's creation, always amazed at the secret and unexpected wonders that surround us.
Later education included Young L.G. Harris College, LaGrange College and Emory University. The writing of poetry grew while at Young Harris, where the author worked on the campus newspaper as sports editor and frequently submitted poems for publication.
For several years he provided a regular column, "Look With Me," in the Blue Ridge weekly newspaper and aired a weekly radio program, "Where Jesus Walked."
Fifty years in Christian ministry throughout the northern half of Georgia awakened the author to the pains so many endure and the faith that leads them through. The meditative nature of poetry became a mighty tool in assisting those who suffer and seek strength.
The greatest inspiration, however, came through his family's own struggle. "The day after we were told our son would not live," reports the author, "an injured buterfly fell at my feet, and I wondered, just what does one say to a butterfly with a broken wing, when hope seems gone? That began anew a deep and sincere searching for the voice I knew existed, the voice I had so long proclaimed. And in that struggle, I heard. And I knew: a shared voice must first be heard."
