Silence, like love, fills the void of my soul,
surrounds me like a cold blanket.
The absence of your laugh feels like thunder,
shaking the core of my being.
The shadow of your touch caresses me,
lying in my bed awake and alone,
like a fleeting memory of moments past.
A dream, like an unfamiliar friend,
tugs at my memory.
Scenes of passion, of two making love;
each filling the other with pleasure,
holding one another, feeling the other’s soul, not skin.
And like the dew of a morning rain,
the dream evaporates, leaving silence.
Now lying here, hearing the beat of a heart,
your heart, like a whistle of a far-off train.
As I strain to remember the dream, lying there,
I know that the silence is soon at an end.
And the dream will soon become a reality.
Silence becomes Golden.

This book showcases some of the poems written during the course of his lifetime and includes poems from 3 generations. Poems from his mother and daughter are also included and the story behind finding out that all 3 generations wrote poetry beginning around 13-years of age is discussed in the book’s dedication.
