The next week I was at the file cabinet at work and I thought I heard Luke's voice in the hallway calling my name. I told myself it couldn't be and I was just imagining hearing his heavy voice. It couldn't really be Luke; he wouldn't dare come on my job. Then I heard it again. This time it was louder and more demanding. I looked around and there he stood! He still had that crazy look. I quietly said, "No, what do you want"? He replied, "I want to talk to you". Everyone stopped working and started looking from me to him and from him to me. One of my co-workers got the manager. The manager came out of his office and told me to stay where I was and ordered Luke out of the building. Luke then turned his attention to the manager and was cursing and telling him to stay out of it. He said, "Your wife is home with you and mine is not. I came to take her home".
While Luke was talking to the manager, someone called the police. By the time the police arrived, Luke was in that familiar rage, but he didn’t attempt to attack the manager. I didn’t realize how badly I was trembling and I was crying profusely. A co-worker named Shelly took me into the back office and gave me a small pill. I asked what it was and she just said, “Take it, I’ve been through this before too and you need this”. It was valium.
