About the Book

Rhyme and Reason is a book of poetry with an inspired Christian theme. The poems have been comprised over many years and many trials. I began to write poetry at the age 15 and have compiled this book over a period of ten years. There are several sections in the book, devoted to subjects such as love and nature, but each poem is written from a spiritual view point.

My hope is that the reader will be inspired to love, appreciate, slow down, and give thanks for all the joys and wonders hidden in plain sight, overpowered by the hustle and bustle of every day life. It is amazing what a person can see and understand when given the opportunity to stop in the silence and simply contemplate the world around them. No television, no radio, no phone, no people, just an individual, their thoughts, a pen, and some paper. That is the atmosphere of this work. It may not follow the formal patterns and linguistic rules of classic poetry, but that is part of the raw nature captured in the imagery and attitude behind each poem.

I have also included a section of explanations to clarify the meaning behind some of the more complicated and personal poems. Often times a poem is written as a descriptive cover, concealing some simple meaning or mentality that the author is attempting to bring a new angle of understanding to. It is, however, to no avail if the reader cannot grasp the subject behind the mask. So I hope that all who choose to read Rhyme and Reason will read and enjoy with understanding and encouragement. God bless.
