These are the final paragraphs of the last chapter of the book.
It may well be that this last chapter will be regarded as wishful thinking.This is not the case,it is the logical result of a choice made by man.If he returns to spirituality,something along these lines will evolve.There will be problems,of course.For example where do the religions fit in? That will be up to them, but I believe if they are to survive they will have to accept the reality of life and the Afterlife as described in these pages,changing their own beliefs appropriately.
Though it is the western cultures which are the least spiritual at the moment,nevertheless,because it is in those areas where much of the discoveries about the paranormal and the Afterlife are being made,it is here that the anti-materialism changes will occur most rapidly,with probably Asia,Africa and S.America following the lead of Europe and North America.The desire for a life that has more meaning is becoming more and more apparent in western peoples.The mass of men,as Henry David Thoreau wrote in 1854,'lead lives of quiet desperation'.A century and a half later,the desperation is still there,but now it is not so quiet.
The ideas presented in this book may seem unusual to some readers. Perhaps,to quote Thoreau again, it is because I 'hear a different drummer',but I believe that beat is the true beat of the World. If man does not take this spiritual reformation I think the Earthly experiment will not have long to run. The Afterlife is all around us but will remain unknown to the majority,so many more will become Earthbound.As man probably eliminates himself from the planet,the Earthbound can only await rescue from those already in the Afterlife.
Whilst completing this chapter I read an account of a haunting in south London in the 1950s,written by one of the individuals involved.As usual the ghost was an Earthbound spirit,the victim of a cruel killing.Fortunately a knowledgeable psychic lived in the area,and when told of the problem,she knew precisely what to do,i.e.how to complete the transition from Earth to Afterlife for the sad victim. He had had no belief in the paranormal whatsoever,and at the close of the account,the writer quoted a remark made by the psychic, which sums up the situation for a large proportion of humanity,'It's a pity that most of us have to die before we believe'.
Even if the physical world does come to an untimely end, it does not mean that any permanent damage is done to any living creature.It is simply a messy ending to what I believe,as stated previously,is an experiment.Man returns to his true nature, that of a spiritual being.

About the Book
We all die physically, but as this book demonstrates,we all survive spiritually:we return to the world of spirit from which we originated.Until recent centuries the normal change at death was for our spiritual selves to move into an Afterlife. However in recent times the minds of many,especially in Western cultures,have been conditioned to believe mistaken ideas about the Afterlife, or even its existence, by the dogmas of organised religion and orthodox science. The result of this has been that at death, especially if the latter has been of a sudden, violent nature, millions of people have been so shocked and bewildered by this unexpected spiritual awakening that they have been unable to accept the smooth natural transition to the bliss of the Afterlife, and have remained on Earth as Earthbound spirits, i.e.ghosts. There are other types of ghosts, but Earthbound spirits are now much the most numerous. They are unfortunate beings living in a kind of limbo that may last for centuries. Most cannot realise that they are dead!They cannot understand their inability to make contact with us. The last thing such ghosts want is to frighten us. They are not evil spirits, as some bigots maintain,who then attempt to exorcise them. We need to assure them first that they are dead,and then help them to attain the true Afterlife, to move towards the light.
Read this book and you can be certain that you will not have the misfortune to become an Earthbpound spirit. It will open your mind to the realities of spiritual life and material death, amd will, hopefully, convince you that the spread of true spirituality among individuals will do more to save this physical world from disaster than all the efforts of governments.

I was born in 1930 in Worcestershire.After six years at Hartlebury Grammar School,I did National Service in the RAF,and then Teacher Training at Chester College.After 16 years in Primary Teaching I took a Degree in Botany at Southampton University and went to teach in Secondary Schools,mainly Grammar,retiring from teaching as Head of Biology at Milford Grammar School,Pembrokeshire.In this period I wrote weekly articles on natural history for the Western Telegraph,and after retiring did some lecturing on cruise ships.I have always been interested in the paranormal and related subjects,have read widely ,and talked to many people on such matters,and have been a member of the Society for Psychical Research for many years.
