About the Book

Mick Scott, aka "Osmosis" when performing at local poetry venues, is a talented writer/poet; from Clarksville, Tennessee. His will to progress at his passion has improved his hunger for knowledge through word play, metaphors, and puns to express his thoughts among societies young & old.

"The Black Soapbox" is the long anticipated follow up volume to his first book, "The Sunshine from Behind a Mountain." (2006) In this new volume, he takes you deep into his psyche and distributes real thoughts to the world about love, gang violence, black thought, real world, and timeless issues that involves our society today.

When asked about the title, he stated that" Black" illustrates his ethnicity as well as the intergalactic thoughts he shares. "Soapbox" is derived from when someone has something to address to the masses, they "get on their soapbox", and pour out their thoughts and feelings to society, which silhouettes the title, "The Black Soapbox." From a humorous point of view, he simply smiles, shrugs his shoulders, and says, "I guess I'm a brother with a lot to say through prose and poetry."

Once you open the first few pages and let the wisdom of his poetry grasp you from the beginning to end with its realism, you will feel as if he is talking to you! You will not want to put this book down for one second, it's just that good and you will be satisfied that you spent your monies worth!

About the Author

Mitchell O. Scott Jr. aka Mick Scott was born in Ft. Polk, Louisiana, in May 1976, to Mitchell and Patricia Scott. He was reared in Clarksville, Tennessee, along with his two brothers Byron, Maurice, and one sister Latoya . As a teenager he wrote poetry, in the form of raps, which his mother never approved of feeling that her son was headed in the wrong direction/setting a bad example for his siblings. In return, he quit writing raps and began writing short stories that he still owns (Seventeen and Looking for Love) in his stash of "rainy day projects" or as he calls it "The RDP files". Mick, again started writing in early 1999, with his first poem titled, "Stray Away" when his emotions got the best of him after a bad relationship, which opened the door to the inner thoughts of his heart and soul of his mind in his first book "The Sunshine from Behind a Mountain." Follow his deep thoughts in his new volume as he shares them with you and draws you in as if you were there and we guarantee that you will crave for more once you finish this book.

Mick lives in Montgomery, Alabama, with his wife Sharon and two children Aurieanna LaShae' and Alanna LaChele'. He is currently attending University of Phoenix to earn a degree in Criminal Justice. In his spare time, he enjoys basketball, weight lifting, and can be found on MySpace music page performing tracks from "The Black Soapbox"
