About the Book

"Inspiration, Challenge, and Hope - A Set of Spiritual Poems to Inspire, Challenge, and Give You Hope" is a book containing sixty seven poems that represent, what could be, different stages of one's own spiritual journey in the Lord.  They represent the author's own spiritual journey during a two decade period (from 1980 - 2001).  Several of them could be classified as messages toward others and/or the church as a whole but mostly reflect the spiritual thoughts and feelings of the author at the time each one was given.  It is the hope of the author that others may share and be blessed, in the reading of these poems, to having similar experiences in their own journey and thus be comforted, encouraged, and challenged to a deeper walk with God.

About the Author

The author, Jim Eliot, makes his home in Cameron Park, CA in the foothills of El Dorado County (about 20 - 30 miles east of Sacramento).  He shares his home with Java, a 11 year old, very active and high-strung gray-tabby cat that keeps the author entertained daily.

Jim spends most of his time working as a teacher with Sacramento Local Conservation Corps/John Muir Charter School, a program that offers disadvantaged young adults the opportunity to complete their education while also providing paid work.  Jim helps them obtain their high school diploma and/or GED certificate.

Although he has written other poems which, in time, he plans on publishing, Jim's real passion, in recent years, has been studying and teaching the word of God (the bible) in particular with an emphasis on God's character.  His desire has led him into several opportunities to teach in small group settings such as home groups/bible studies.  It is his desire to eventually organize and publish a two-year study he completed on specific aspects of God's character.
