About the Book

This book brings to a reader a new style when it comes to Poetry.  A lot of readers are not attracted to Poetry because of the "gone with the winds" and the "grasses are green", yet this book brings a stop to all of the finger prints to the concept of poetry.  Roadside Poems Vol.1 is based on life, politics, religion and many other very hot topics and issues that are fixed in the eyes of a young man who was raised in a foreign land yet he arrives in this country called America, whose people are known as Yankees whether they are white or Melonite, and he grows up in different views, religions, concepts, loves, friendships and societies.  These poems will touch your emotions, One can bet their life on that, for the saying is true, "The Pen Is Mightier Than The Knife" for you must first insult ones soul with words so that ones words can be converted into actions, "So what is the pen? but the atom of war!" /Kareem A. Alfred/

About the Author

Kareem Andrew Alfred was born in the little Caribbean country of Trinidad and Tobago. My mother and father separated when I was just “oh so fragile” at the tender age of seven.  My mother was a very loving yet very, very abusive in a frustrated way of life on me, towards me, you know what I mean?  I grew up pitching marbles with my neighbor hood friends, Jason Springer, Atibah John, Steven Boney, Nigel and Brian Campbell, Anthony Rosale and many others that are living and died along the way, rest in peace Dean.  Years later, from the age of seven to my age of 12, here comes this stranger known to me as daddy, very verbally abusive for a man who knows not how I survived all these years without him while I once laid on a death bed severely ill from a sickness touched by a mien fever.  Hmmm! The years have past so long ago to this date from my age of young which stated, “I can’t wait until I am grown”, which now comes; but it is of course a cursed outcome.

I am a realist, not a racist.  It is a white man's world I live in, so I speak with day while I sing with night.  I am an ambitious young black man and I am tired of being broke, working for assholes and having to take shit so I can pay my bills and rent, so buy my book, its realistic poems, its reality poems, its the truth, I am not racist, remember I am a realist, why?  It is only white faces on my dollar bills, yet where is Geronimo?
