Happy Mother’s Day

Prelude:
About a year ago, I lost someone very dear to my heart. The year before I lost a friend and I lost my stepfather. The year before that, I lost my grandfather. Since I don’t know when my time will come, I try to spend the time I have loving anyone and everyone I share this existence with. Because to say goodbye with anger in my heart, is a fate worse than the lost itself. So know I love you, if I stepped on a toe, I’m sorry. I love you. If I haven’t said it in a while, I love you.

since you went home
i miss you still
i don't cry as much
because i know
you aren't suffering anymore
yet there are times
i think of our last conversation
your voice
echoes through my heart
always pleasant
never in anger
i love you mama harper
i never thanked you
when there was time
i know you can hear me
so allow me a chance
to thank you

for a place to lay my head
when i didn't want to go home
for feeding me
because everyone had a plate
thank you
for my brothers
my nephews
my niece
thank you for loving me
as one of your own

we will meet again
so as i cry
i'm not sad
i'm just reminded
of how good God has been to me
although some question His presence
i can say
He truly exists
For i was blessed
to call one of His angels
