About the Book
This book is based on the extensive cruising of the author as a guest of the cruise lines. It describes how he got started lecturing on cruise ships and describes the cruises that he and his wife have taken as a lecturer. It explains how anybody can apply to be a lecturer and describes the qualifications necessary for their acceptance. He compares the advantages and disadvantages of traveling as a lecturer on cruise ships. He points out that this is not for everybody, although it can be very enjoyable for a person who enjoys teaching and spending days on a ship at sea. It provides the amenities of living in a five-star resort and eating in five-star restaurants while traveling to far distant places and visiting foreign ports. It has the additional advantage of unpacking only once during the entire trip. Although continuous entertainment is provided onboard, perhaps the most enjoyable feature is the opportunity to meet and talk to many people from all over the world, thus broadening your outlook on life.
About the Author
Harold C. Byler, Jr., is retired and has been lecturing on cruise ships with his wife, Miriam, for three years. Previously they were lifetime sailboat enthusiasts traveling all over the world. Harold retired from sailboats after finally realizing that he no longer had the stamina required for the inevitable storms at sea. Miriam convinced him to try a cruise ship and they enjoyed it. After he discovered the cruise ship lecture circuit, they began cruising on cruise ships extensively. After many people asked him how to get on this circuit, he decided to write this book. He is the author of thirteen previous books.
