He did his first painting in St. Kitts at the age of 8 at his grandma’s house, stealing paints from his uncle and placing them in soda bottle caps, painting on broken panes of glass which he’d cut into desired shape with a glass cutter, selling them to men in the neighborhood for 50 cents to a dollar at barber shops and rum shops. He sketched, drew and painted in college doing posters of popular bands and political events.  When he dropped out of college he continued painting and pursued being a professional artist, when he had his first child in 1974 at the age of 21.  From 77 to 89 he was a nationally registered EMT, in order to better support his family and, at the price of his painting.

He has drawn on all his life’s influences and experiences and from his inner sense and self-study to write this book of poems primarily for his male children because he didn’t raise his two girls.
