            Lost

On this path with no particular direction

Trying to avoid all of life’s deception

Try to move on in all determination

But great things have come with such procrastination

Curious I find but her excuse to make

Is it holding on to the past for memory sake

But that would make the now and all surrounding it fake

There’s the times I must learn to stop giving, instead take

Everything I know but still dig to deep

For some hidden meaning or caution to reap

I never let go, collection of pieces I keep

And when I’m alone the thoughts make me weep

I know I’m not alone in that many feel this pain

Empty victories, lost direction, left standing in the rain

Mind starts racing, then shaken thoughts become insane

Sometimes looking in from outside but still try to maintain

The cold sweeps in and covers in frost

Even old comforts are hidden and glossed

I sit back and wonder at what the cost

Or maybe we are all but truly lost
