About the Author
D. Lee Hatchett is among countless African-Americans initiated into one of the nine Black Greek Letter Organizations through a public pledge process called being “on line” or “crossing the burning sands”. Inspired by a fascination for the history and evolution of black fraternities and sororities, Lee has served as a college fraternity advisor, lectured on Black Greek Letter Organizations, and written for and been featured in Black College Today, Urban Influence and Booking Matters magazines. Lee is also a member of The Divine Literary Tour (www.thedivineliterarytour.com).
In addition to his interest in the study of African American service and social organizations, Lee also holds a fascination for speculative fiction and has been applauded for his work. Lee is a 2006 African-American Literary Award Show (
As a marketer and a self-published, African-American, science fiction & fantasy author, Lee is well aware of the opportunities that exist to increase the visibility of speculative fiction and the literacy rate within the urban community. To this end, Lee founded the Urban Speculative Fiction Literary Foundation, which is a non-profit, tax exempt, organization with a single mission: to stimulate and cultivate the hopes, imaginations, literary talents, and life skills of our youth through speculative fiction. Key programs, such as the USFLF Writers’ Camp, USFLF Youth Anthology, and the USFLF Scholarship will nurture a whole new generation of speculative fiction authors (www.urbanliterati.org).
