No matter how awful our memories are, we have a choice. We can cling to memories, painful proof that our existence is irrelevant and destined for doom, or we can release the hurt and move forward with clear purpose to improve our lives.

Isabelle M. has made a choice and INJUSTICES OF A POETIC SOUL provides a unique template on how to become a restored human being and live a blessed life.
Unflinchingly honest and unfailing in her delivery, Isabelle lays it all out: the molestation, the rape, the unfathomable mental and physical abuse and the tortuous neglect. But she does more than just divulge the pain and share the torment in her poetry. She offers her poetic expression as an enhancement to the details of her life. Each poem that encapsulates painful memories is accompanied by a journal-like confession, clearly guiding the reader through Isabelle's experiences. This compilation also contains pictures of the author, further proof of her self-acceptance and internal love after a life of being labeled ugly.

Every piece in this compilation is touching, tracing tears across life's face. If forced to name favorites, the poems that I would revisit again and again are Why Me, Bitter Kiss, Does Anyone Care, A Poem for Tasha, etc... The truth is, they are all wonderful. And the best work of all is Isabelle's picture of triumph, jumping, smiling and feeling joy, despite - rather, in spite of it all.

About the Author

A single mother of five who has endured physical, sexual, emotional, and mental abuse from the time that she was born from her mother. From being thrown into walls while only a few weeks old because she would not stop crying, to being starved for several days at a time as a severe punishment. She had a story to tell and her outlet was through her poetry. One day, she took a good look at her life and realized her strengths, took that strength to utilize it to empower and uplift herself and others. Through her struggles, pain and cry for help, she contemplated suicide many times. Her depression pushed her over the edge until one morning she woke up and realized that time was passing by and she devalued her life because she gave her power to her oppressors. Her pain gave her strength, and her courage gave her a reason to live and help others in her situation. She took that and decided that she was someone of value, and realizing her degree of worth she finished school and decided to take her talents and utilize it in order to defeat her past and empower her future. Now she uses her strengths to help others who have been through or are going through similar struggles and she will continue until her last breath. Isabella M.  is a talented poet who looks at life from a different prespective, and though some of her poetry has sort of an meloncholy tone, most can relate somehow with a story of their own.
