About the Book
My motivation in compiling Drive and Survive was to produce a Carp book that was by the people for the people.Like myself many of the contributors have never appeared in print before and therefore will not be household names as such.Carp anglers as a rule care greatly about their fish and surroundings and just about all us have a story waiting to be told.I hope you enjoy reading this collection of tales as much as i did in compiling them and that it inspires you in your fishing .I have tried to use the original words of each Author as much as possible and so the writing styles will vary greatly. The book is not a highly polished epic by one of the tackle giants and will not carry excessive advertising and endorsements, the fact that I have coverred some venues more than once is pure coincidence.I have tried to get different perspectives on our sport by including lake owners and a booking agent and hopefully the finished product is a great isight into this great passtime of ours.My aim is to produce more volumes of this concept and that you the reader will have the chance to tell your own memorable story in the near future.I wish you all luck in making your own dreams come true.Jay
About the Author
Even though my father has published many novels I would not cosider writing has been passed on to me genetically.I was actually quite suprised how easy I found it to compile my own personal chapters but writing about something I am passionate about obviously helps greatly. Some of the contributors are fairly well practised angling journalists while others are just enthusiasts like myself.I have been a fishermen since my school days and a Carp angler for a quarter of a century.Nearly all of my fishing for the last decade has been overseas which complements the love i have for travelling. In the future I will look constantly for more exotic and atmospheric locations where I can indulge my hobby.
Some of the other contributors have become very good friends over the years and others are fairly new aquaintances. This sport or hobby, whichever way you wish to view it has a habit of bringing people together and I hope you enjoy this ecclectic mix.
