About the Book

My Stories, My Life: A Collection of Writings

Minhas Histórias, Minha Vida                                             by Vernon Rodrigues

these are 3 of my favorite stories....

First is “A Strange Victory”. The Story of WW ll and the Life of a Young Man Recently Drafted Into Service.

JAKE” was what they called him. He was a young man, like many other young men, uncertain of life, frightened by the responsibility of becoming “grown-up”. This is the story of the outstanding events that occurred in his life.  It is taken from an accumulation of notes he had written over a vast period of time.  It begins before the United States entered the Second World War, and it carries on through until it was finished.  But wars are never really over in the lives of those who have suffered from it.  We were true friends, and it was Jake’s earnest desire that I should try to make something out of the notes.  I suggested that it was his story, that I should not become involved with it.  But he pleaded with me to go ahead and do the story, because he felt that it might possibly help someone to believe.....

Second is “Manny Bordeaux”.  The Story of a Man’s Life during the Great Depression.

This young lower class house painting salesman meets an upper class woman, Millie through his job.  She does not care much for him initially.  But they soon become great friends after he poses as.....

Third is “The Party on Joy Street”.

This story tells about young couples coming together as friends one evening in San Francisco.
