About the Book

“Little kids are innocent by nature, and by nature, they say things that are innocent. These comments are not malice or mean in context, but are made out of purity and free spirit, just as adults are at heart. Adults remain children at heart. And sometimes, when no one is looking, even they can be seen drawing outside the lines.”

This is an excerpt taken from the article “Kids Say the Darnedest Things,” written by Alison Swade, News Editor for The Leader, an award-winning student newspaper at Elmhurst College, Illinois.

As children develop with their friends and families, they learn to speak and write appropriately, depending on positive or negative feedbacks they receive.  It is important to capture their sincere and honest thoughts.

In this book of poetries, the young Yu children express themselves exactly as they see and question life.  There are no restrictions,  no rights or wrongs, only pure and good intention.

As adults, we often reminisce about our childhood memories; how enjoyable it was just to eat ice cream without worrying about adding inches; or how fast or high we can run and jump without aches and pains.

The good “old” days, so to speak, in truth, is really the good “young” days.   Children grow up in a blink of an eye.  To be able to express their hearts and souls in poetries is timeless and everlasting.  What a gift!

About the Author

A seven-year old child asks her mother to pay attention to her grandparents’ safety.  The child is considerate by not demanding from her parents to spend too much money on buying toys and unnecessary things.  The young child donates her own money to help feed the poor.

These values are not only difficult to teach but also to understand for today’s generation of children. It is heart-warming and touching to witness these characteristics and traits in a young child.

Happy, carefree, and even-tempered describe Sabrina.  At a very young age, Sabrina is analytical and insightful.  She is sensitive, caring, and loving, who also has the ability to sense vibrations around her.

At two-days old, while deeply asleep in her bassinet, Sabrina immediately woke up to smile at her Mommy through the nursery window in the hospital. At age five, Sabrina saw a baby angel whom she identified to her Mommy.  It turned out to be one of her younger siblings who never made it to this world.

Sabrina is profound and has deep thoughts from eating ice cream to interpreting dreams.  She loves and enjoys reading and writing.  Expressing her feelings and viewpoints began to flourish as she continues to write faithfully to answer some of her own reflective thoughts such as:  “Why was I born?” or “What is the purpose of my life?” or “What is heaven like?”

Sabrina, like all children, learns from watching and observing her family and friends.  She is a strong-willed person who loves God and her family.  She is a well-adjusted 10-year old and is blossoming into a delightful human being.

Sabrina is an aspiring writer who continues to seek the truth about life.  With continual nurturing and encouragement, she is growing up to be an exceptional person.
