The Times, They Keep On Changing
Nothing remains the same. We experience things and hopefully grow. Yet sometimes it’s good to look back on what was, just to remember and enjoy, briefly, the days of old.
Born and raised in a little town
Wasn't used to being around
Such a time as this
Used to play jump rope, rubber ball and pick-up-sticks
Played hopscotch, marbles and jacks
Day to day living took a special knack
But, those years have past
And those times are gone
Yet memories of those days
They still linger on
Seasons of time do not last
And so, I do not live in the past
But from each season I retain
Some strengths that are gained
Learning and gleaming from those
Good times, bad times, thrills and woes
I bring them with me to my now
That they, my future might endow
That I may draw from them as needed
So that past mistakes need not be repeated
Still I love to share the old times
With family and some friends of mine
We pass around the tales of days gone by
And when the laughs are over, we realize
It was good to get together yet again
To talk about how things were back then
As we look to the future for the times to come
Still pressing on til our rest is won

About the Author
Daisy L. Jackson was born in Hartsville, S. C. She and her family currently reside in
Ms. Jackson is a Licensed Practical Nurse, who enjoys and takes pride in serving others. While she is still actively involved and enjoys nursing, she is passionate about writing.
Ms. Jackson began writing poetry in high school. Over the years, God has extended her works to include plays, songs, and short stories. There are many inspirational writings as well.
Most of her poems were inspired by a spoken word or phrase that touched her spirit and stayed with her. Some of her poems were written as a request by someone, who knows of her poetic prose or simply because of her never ending desire to be a blessing to others.
