About the Author

Susan Monson is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Play Therapist with specialized training in working with children, adolescents and their families, and a hypnotherapist.

Susan was born and raised in Osceola, Indiana.  She graduated from Indiana State University in 1970 with a B.S. in Education, K-8.  In 1973, she earned a M.S. from Indiana University.  She taught second grade for 5 years in Brownsburg, Indiana.

In 1990, Susan taught second grade at the United Methodist private school in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  In 1993, she earned a M.Ed. in counseling from the University of Arkansas.

Susan has served as an Elementary School Counselor for 5 years, a Middle School Counselor for 9 years, and a therapist in private practice for 17 years working with children, families and individuals.  She was awarded the School Counselor of the Year for Northwest Arkansas in 2002, and also, received the School Counselor of the Year Award for the State of Arkansas in 2002.

Susan’s first children’s picture book, “I Forgot!” was released in 2007 and is the first in a series.  It features Ralph, the field mouse, and is designed for parents and grandparents to READ WITH THEIR CHILDREN.  The ADULT section at the back of the book provides help with teaching principles and values presented in the story.
