About the Book

This is a collection of poetry and short prose by Don DePriest.  Selections include inspirational, humorous, and love theme pieces.  There are also poems written in the poetic style of sonnets, haikus, tankas, limericks, reducing poetry, etherees, and quatrains.  There are pieces about family and assorted miscellaneous subjects as well.


About the Author

Donald L. DePriest was born and raised in southeast Missouri but has spent most of his life in the Ozark Mountains around Springfield, MO.  He is a retired teacher and speech pathologist, having taught English, history, speech, theater and speech therapy in the public schools.  He left the public schools in 1993 and worked as a speech pathologist in nursing homes and hospitals for 8 years 

Don  has a BA in theater and communication disorders and a MA in speech pathology.  He has directed and performed in numerous theatrical performance in the southwest Missouri area.  He is currently the newsletter ("Museletter") editor of the Poet and Friends, the local and founding chapter of the Missouri State Poetry Society, and the co-editor of their state newsletter, "Spare Mule".  

Don has been writing poetry for over 25 yrs. which covers a wide variety of subjects.  Much of his poetry has been of the inspirational nature, but there are also a mixture of pieces about the family, love, humor,  and every day life experiences within his work.  Most of the more formal styles he uses here were inspired by challenges within the local poet society chapter, Poets and Friends, which also gives Don much support and encouragement.
