In love with a ghost
I was happy when I got a job as a long-distance truck driver. I had spent five years searching for a job. One of my first major missions was to carry goods from South Africa to Harare. Since it is a long distance between South Africa and Harare by road, you usually end up driving at night. I left our depot in South Africa at 6.00 p.m., which meant that I was going to drive the whole night. I crossed the border of Zimbabwe and South Africa. When in Beitbridge, I decided to rest at a lay-by. It was now late at night, and it was raining. Thunder and lightning dominated the rain.

I found a suitable place to park the truck. We went into a local hotel. I ordered some drinks and cigarettes. We sat in a corner. “Madhuve,” the then musical hit, was playing, and she invited me for a dance. She danced so well. I opted out because I couldn’t match her. I ordered a drink for myself and another beer for her. I waited for the opportune moment to declare my intention. “Mary, I have fallen for you.”
“Are you sure? Can you manage me? I stay far away; will
