I would like to thank my cousin Robert Turbeville for his help in editing this story and his encouragement to keep us going when it seemed like we’d never finish, and also my wife, Jeanne’, for putting up with me during the days of toiling over the computer. I want to thank the person who invented spell check, without whom I assure you this story would not have gotten to first base.
To my children Don, Bart, Dianne and Greg, you now have the answer to the age-old question, "What did Dad do during WW II?" You can proudly stick out your chest and proclaim: "He sold newspapers in downtown Baton Rouge.”
My grandchildren Jennifer, Kirby, William, Taylor, Marianna, Carter, Michael and Julia someday you may want to know what life was like before computer games, cell phones,iPods, DVDs and yes, television. Well, here it is. Enjoy.
Future readers may call to question the accuracy of some of the events mentioned herein and I admit to a waning memory (has anybody see my glasses?), but remember, I was there and this is how I remembered it.

Born in a rural
As you read about this Rambling Boy and his friends you will find laughter in the stories he tells of becoming a news paper entrepreneur in Baton Rouge at the age of 8, living on the Davis farm in Arkansas, growing up with the great Buffalos (friends) of Fort Worth, playing football in Memphis and Mississippi, serving his country in the Philippines, and eventually finding his niche in Louisiana.
About the Author
Bill currently resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with his wife Jeanne'. Although a Rambling Boy in his youth, Bill has spent most of his adult life in Louisiana. Now retired from the restaurant business, he is able to enjoy his hobbies of fishing, reading, and traveling. He has remained in touch with may of the friends in his book and has never lost his quest for adventure.
