Could it really be a 2008 Great Depression?
Or is it just another 80’s recession?
High cost of insurance but a decrease in proceeds.
Salmonella in eggs and still mad cow disease.
Food prices gone up, tomatoes pulled from the stores.
Restaurants empty - leisure’s money no more.
Over four dollars a gallon, gas is taking off like a rocket.
Prices are soaring and hitting us right in the pocket.
Farmers are suffering, no water to grow crops.
Dry land, withered grass and job leads have dropped.
Avoiding foreclosure so people are forced to sell homes.
Stricter guidelines in order to get government loans.
Daycare is ridiculous, oil’s at an all time high.
Fewer airline seats for those needing to fly.
Can’t prevent going out of business, therefore; companies will unite.
Losing our families because of another countries fight.
School board official are failing the system, you see.
Overcrowding of jails so inmates are set free.
No jogging in the park in fear it’s your last day.
Babies having babies can’t even pave their own way.
What a world it is when free TV is in the past.
Antenna’s no good, 2009 is coming fast.
People are being murdered in the streets, for no reason at all.
But yet the president’s in the White House still standing tall.
It doesn’t take a blind man to see that our children are dying.
Raped, molested and killed - yes our economy is crying.
Obama, McCain; who will win the next election?
Think about the people - make the right selection.

About the Book
First, I want to give thanks to God; for all things are possible through Christ who strengthens me. Again, without spiritual inspiration and gaining strength through him to withstand many storms there would be no contents for either book.
About the Author
PATRICIA THURMOND was born and raised in Lima, Ohio to the late John and Bernice Thurmond. She has four brothers; Vernon, John, Sandy and Michael. She also has three sisters; Seallena, Sheala and Gwendolyn. She is the sixth child of the eight and states that she can remember the good times as if they were only yesterday. She speaks for all when she says that “Our mother did a remarkable job raising us, although it wasn’t an easy task. She was a very strong willed and firm guardian who taught us to believe in ourselves and that as long as we did our best that all things were possible.”
Growing up Patricia was active in basketball and track. She still enjoys playing basketball and exercising to stay fit. As a single mother, she struggles to raise five children on her own; Levi, Erin, Javon, Dawon and Jaden. Despite the odds she did manage to obtain an associates degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Cincinnati in 2003. She relocated to Marietta, Georgia where she received her second degree in Surgical Technology in 2005. She continues to gain knowledge by reaching more educational goals.
She believes that helping others is her passion and hopes to sometime in the future open a rehabilitation center. She states that “Right now I stay pretty busy trying to keep my children on the right track. It’s definitely not an easy job but they encourage me along the way just as much as I do them. We’re good for each other.”
Ms. Thurmond currently resides in Marietta, Georgia utilizing her skills in the medical field.
