Sage walked into the kitchen where Mac is making his famous Southern Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Sage put her knees on one of the kitchen chairs and rested her elbows on the table.
“God, I love this stuff!” Sage smacked her lips while looking at the sweet potato mixture.
“Why don’t you bake one yourself? You learned how, years ago. You can make cheesecake and anything else you want to eat. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll go to
“You know, Mac, that’s not a bad idea. But for now, I’m saving all my cooking for the man in my life.”
Mac looks at Sage,“Ain’t nothing wrong with that.”
“I’ve got myself a real, honest-to-goodness gentleman, Mac! His name is Lee Davis and he’s wonderful.” Sage swung around the chair, feeling happy. “And with a little bit of luck, we’ll be married next spring.”
Mac surprised, . “Wait a minute, now. You’re moving too fast! Marriage? I’ve met Steven and Douglas, but Lee … I don’t know this Lee. And marriage! I just don’t know.” Mac shook his head. I like
“Don’t worry, Mac. You’ll always have a ticket to the symphony. As for Lee, you’re going to meet him this afternoon. He’s coming here for lunch! I’ve been keeping him a secret. I wanted the time to be right.”
“A secret? Why, we have no secrets in this house, and there ain’t no right time around here for you to get married either.”
“I know … but anyway, Mac, you’re my best friend. And I’m glad that I told you first! I can’t wait for you to meet him.”
Mac shakes his head,“This sounds serious. You better talk to Mrs. Ross about this boy before you get into trouble.”
“We’re talking with Mother this afternoon.” Sage stuck her finger into Mac’s sweet potato mixture..
“Stop that! Anyway, I’m looking forward to meeting him and he better be all that you say he is or I’ll throw him out of here fast.”
Sage smiled and pinched Mac’s face.

Life was going well for everyone -- until Lee met Sage at a concert that past summer. Lee is in love with the twenty year old daughter of Joan and Howard Ross, not knowing that he and Sage are half-brother and sister! Not knowing that his mother is even alive or that she is a white woman!

As a child, I knew that I had a gift for writing. Poetry started out to be my favorite. At the age of six, I was writing short stories and childhood experiences. As a teenager, I knew that writing was my ultimate passion. I would write about everything that I could, and never would go anywhere without my pen and paper.
High school friends would often ask for my help with writing homework papers, personal greeting cards, even love letters, which later introduced me to the exciting world of screenplays and then to my extreme love of writing novels.
There is something wonderful and exciting about creating characters and then bringing them to life for others to enjoy.
Along with the support of my family and friends, I have completed my first novel, “A VERY PRIVATE AFFAIR,” which I have translated into a Romance Drama.
