We have been searching our entire lives to attain the true meaning of love. I was taken aback when I looked in the The World Book Dictionary on the definition of “love”. Love was used in the description of what love means. It took them approximately one-third of the page to reiterate the word ‘love” without actually defining it.
In reading the definition of “love” the only true meaning ascribed to it is: a fond or tender feeling; warm liking; affection; attachment. Other Thesaurus listings under the word “love” include: to adore, to worship, to be devoted, to care for, to find irresistible, to fancy, to have a weakness for, to have a thing about, to be attracted to, to be partial to, and also to go for.
My definition of love is being “at one” with God, allowing His genuineness to be lived through you in order to touch others (it’s a heart thing). Furthermore, you allow yourself to give you to someone else of your own species in a more personal, intimate and fulfilling way. Where love lives possibilities are birth and love is allowed to thrive.

The very word Love conjures up all sorts of feelings and meanings, but even the poets had difficulty in rendering its original intent.
You may have read how Paul Laurence Dunbar expounded on love; or even read William Shakespeare’s sonnets or dramas dealing with love; or Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s poems on love; and even though Andrew Marvell may have tried to define love, no mortal man can really give you the true meaning of love apart from the one who created life in love. For God truly knows full well where its meaning originated.
