About the Book

Buhley Sparks-The Gift, is a story about a boy growing up in Homerville, Georgia in 1957.  Buhley has the gift of impeccable accuracy whether he’s throwing a baseball at a can on a fence or clocking a rattlesnake coiled to strike a friend twenty paces away.  When a traveling All Star baseball team comes to town, Buhley pitches for the home team and makes a lasting impression with the All Star’s coach.  A couple of years later, Buhley is invited to tryout for the Atlanta Peaches baseball organization.  Through a quirk of fate, he soon finds himself not just trying out for the team but pitching the game of his life against the Peaches’ professional league opponent.  Buhley must decide whether to pursue a career in sports or serve as a caretaker for his ailing father. Through out the tale a unique cast of characters enter Buhley’s life prodding him upward and at the same time being up lifted by his gifts.
