About the Book

'The Hidden Story - The Poetry of Jeff Bresee' is a compilation of poems of varying types and themes that were inspired by the author's life long struggle with mental illness and addiction, and his determination to conquer these vises by his firm belief in God and family.  The Hidden Story tells the tales that are familiar to all; what lies beneath the masks that we wear, and what deep inner struggles exist in the hearts and minds of those who refuse to give up.

About the Author

Jeff Bresee was raised in the heart of the Potato Country of Southeast Idaho.  From his youth he learned two important life lessons; the value of hard work, and the beauty and importance of art.  Jeff seemed to have the gift of art from birth and spent much of his spare time drawing.  However, as he grew, Jeff also learned that he would have to face two major challenges to face in life; clinical depression, and addictions.  These vises brought Jeff to a state of near ruin in his early years, but the love and care of friends and family together with a faith in God gave him the strength to escape.  Sadly, this escape was only temporary and later in his adult life, while struggling under the pressures of being a husband and father, Jeff began to slip back into the darkness.  He found that this time around, things were worse than before and being embarrassed to admit his problems, he hid them from view behind a mask.  Thus, being alone to face his demons, he quickly found himself at his darkest hour.  It was in this moment of darkness, a story came to him as an inspiration.  He instantly knew that he had to write the story and as he did, a strength came to him as never before.  This story then lead to the writing of his first poem, and from that moment, Jeff has never looked back.  Jeff feels that the poetry saved him.  He sincerely hopes that you as well might find solace from his work.
