About the Author
The author Francis K. SANG, PhD served in the Kenya Police Force for a total of 30 years rising through the ranks to become a Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police and Director Criminal Investigation Department(CID). He is uniquely qualified and well-placed to discuss the subject through his wealth of experience as senior Police officer, crime-buster, and a member of the global academic research in policy making in the sector of International security.
As the Executive Secretary of the Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) an inter-governmental organization , with express mandate to coordinate efforts to prevent the proliferation of illicit small arms and light weapons in 13 countries signatory to the Nairobi Protocol. He leads a team of experts from different countries in his Nairobi office.He is also a writer and has authoured a chapter in a book entitled International Police Cooperation: " A Kenyan Perspective", a holder of a Doctorate Degree in Sociology from Washington International University USA, and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Leicester University in the United Kingdom.
During his long service with Kenya Police he received numerous awards and decorations including Distinguished Service Medal (DSM),Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) and Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS).
