In You Know What I’m Sayin’?, Communication’s lecturer, Heather Parsons, discusses a detailed step by step process on how to deliver effective presentations.  This book is geared toward the novice who has difficulties in delivering presentations or public speeches.  The goal for writing this book is to support you in presenting a “delivery.”  For some, it seems easy to get up in front of people and give a 5 minute speech if you know the basics of delivery; you may cover all the points, but are you providing valuable insight?  This book is filled with easy-to-read examples and tips on each stage of giving a presentation in the practical world from how to analyze your audience and situation to delivering your information in an effective and dynamic manner.

It takes a lot of know-how and practice to deliver a good speech or presentation.  If you make it DYNAMIC, teach or persuade the audience, then your audience will leave the room with your message implanted in their psyche.   This not only provides value to them for the future, but they also feel good about you as a speaker.  Be passionate and sincere.  Do not act or perform for the audience.   Remember, it is about them and not you.   You are there to inform or persuade them.  They are people so treat them with respect.  Finishing this book will allow you the first step to improving your skills as a speaker and may help you in those last minute make or break opportunities.

About the Author

Heather Parsons offers practical guidelines on how to become an effective communicator.  Heather has studied all realms of communication from successful group communication, public speaking, interviewing and leadership skills.  Heather received her Master’s of Communication degree from the University of Dayton (UD) in Dayton, OH.  She has taught in the Communication field for over eleven years and has conducted research on various forms of communication.  Active in her community and UD, Heather dedicates her life to learning and understanding the complexities of the Communication field.
