Purpose—what one was born to do was very interesting for my mind to understand. After all, I had been wandering around for a very long time without any hope that I could do anything significant in terms of accomplishing what was not ordinary. Thus, I cannot say just how intrigued I was to have heard him speaking in such a pragmatic way and saying that I too could become to believe that my dreams were possible. I did not waste any time, so I swiftly began seeking my purpose deep within myself. Therefore, I traveled way in the past to understand the path that I had traveled and hoped perhaps that those trips would help reveal myself to me and to understand the knowledge that I had demonstrated in the past. Moreover, I spoke with many folks and asked them if they could tell me one thing that they knew I could do effectively, because I had heard René say one of the best ways a person could find their purpose was by asking those who had been around them for a long time and who perhaps understood them well. Thus, I did not vacillate in following his advice. Nonetheless, no one was able to help me in my torment.
I had come to understand that life was not only the visible, but rather a combination of both realms—the visible and the invisible—and that the visible exists in the invisible. In other words, one cannot have the visible without the invisible, and the unseen is greater than the seen. Moreover, the seen was created by the unseen. Consequently, if there is no unseen, then the seen is utterly meaningless, and, thus, to hold only to the seen is foolishness. Therefore, I realized that if one wanted to accomplish anything worthwhile, then one must forsake every distraction possible and must see with fresh eyes. As a consequence, I nonetheless, forsook everyone and everything that would not help me realize that quest. It was explicitly understood that, in spite of the price, I had to find that one thing that would enable me to look with fresh eyes; my internal fuel—passion. To be quite frank, I had to be very pragmatic. Beyond my expectations, beyond my dreams and beyond me and life and reality, I never once imagined the path that that little voice on the inside of me would lead me.
I realized that, if I wanted to move forward, then I had to understand life. I had to understand why I was created. I wanted to understand why I was alive. Indeed, I grappled with these questions for a very long time. What is life? Is there a purpose for me in this life? Was my life simply accidental? Was it designed? However, it was not revealed to me. Indeed, I groped for these answers for a very long time, striving to understand life and the purpose that came with it. I can’t truly say that I asked myself that question, but, in my quest to gain a better understanding about purpose and passion, it literally interrupted me. One day, while I was jogging, I heard the question for the first time. It was as if someone was asking me what life was. I had never thought about that question before, and I had never heard of it. However, I knew it was a question that I had to answer.
In reality, one cannot fully understand life without a relationship with life. Many believe that life is simply what they can perceive with their natural eyes. Thus, they have spent their time and energy seeking the things of life, yet not life itself. Because of their greed and wrong motives, they have always come out empty. Consequently, they have injured themselves. If only they had set their eyes on life that is eternal, then they would have found true life, which was predestined for them before anything else was created.
I truly believe with all simplicity that life has designed a path for each. As King Solomon once said, “Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be; thus, there is no use of arguing with God about one’s destiny.” With that said, life designed the path for us before the foundation of the entire universe, so it is up to us to walk into the divine road that God has laid before us. If, indeed, we choose to walk in it, then our lives will shine like a star for all to see, and we will position ourselves in the higher place to move into our ordained path.
