One evening I fixed a scrumptious meat loaf dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy. After Roy ate his dinner,he said, "That was real good, but that's not the way my mother does it". He had said that the night before,when I fixed him pork chops, "That was real good, but that's not the way my mother does it." I guess I didn't like being compared to another woman. It seemed that no matter what I did Roy said, "That's real good,but that's not the way my mother does it. That night I tucked him in for the night and I tucked him like he ain't never been tucked before, if you get my drift. He lay there all worn out with a smile on his face, pleased with himself, then I whispered, "I bet that's not the way your mother does it". He looked mortified but decided he was glad I wasn't quite like his mother. I had to traumatize the poor guy to make my point.

She always had interests outside the home that led her to one misadventure after the next.People often thought she had an interesting life and said she should write a novel about it,she thought it was more like a comic strip. When her youngest was a senior in high school, she took a part time job at McDonald’s as the playplace supervisor and took college courses at night. She got certified as a subsitute teacher and then moved to St.Louis Mo., where her husband’s job took them for four years.Dolores and her husband have retired to Montana,where they live near their daughter and family. Dolores keeps herself busy with grandchildren,sewing,quilts,and crafts. She sure misses the excitement of Rawlins, Wyoming, where she lived for thirty years
