The Internal Struggle
Writing
these words by candle light.
They’ve
always been my refuge
So
I return to them again,
To
bring stability to my mind,
To
quench this fuse within.
I’m
curious to know what will happen,
If
I let these things out.
Holding
this fire down,
Just
makes me want to shout.
And
I know a lot of people go through things like I do;
I’m
nothing special.
But
imagine if you watched someone kicking your mother right beside you.
I
don’t know what these things have done,
To
my then fragile little mind.
But
like I said before,
And
I’ll say again,
All
things are revealed in time.

About the Author
Lorenzo R. Curtis was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. At the age of 12, shortly after the passing of his mother the late Louise Curtis, he began writing poetry. In this book, he tells of how writing became therapeutic for him as he dealt with the loss of a loved one at such a young age. He studies Economics and Finance at The College of the Bahamas where he has also served as the Public Relations Officer of COBUS (Student Government) and as the Managing Editor for the college's Student Newspaper, "The Spectrum."
