A lot of people love football, my father did it for the love of the game. He was a gem from his first game, until his last. He was my father, Dan Davey. A small town man from Batavia, Illinois who made it big, by hard work and determination. Dan had some amazing games, he also made some amazing calls, as a Big Ten Official. Once you read this, you will feel love, joy, sadness. Dan had many quotes in life and he lived by them everyday. About the Author

Linda J. Davey was Born In Ft. Wayne, Indiana and raised in St. Charles, Illinois and Batavia, Illinois. Linda moved to Florida in 1985. Linda retired her Tutoring Business after 20 years of working with children of all ages to enhance their reading, writing, and spelling skills. Her father Daniel "Dan" Davey always wanted to write a book about his accomplishments as a Big Ten Official. Linda is honoring Dan's dying wish, to write this book for him.

"I worked with Dan as an Official in The Big Ten. I remember Linda would come to a majority of Dan's games and she would watch Dan like a hawk. I am proud to say Ive know Linda since she was 2 on the field.... she was just ""one of the guys"" but she was her father's daughter.The apple of his eye. I did purchase a book and I did get it autographed by her. I am honored to have known Dan and his daughter and I am very proud of Linda for honoring Dan's wishes. This is a great book... I felt like Dan and I were officiating a game again. People don't realize what an Official goes through and Dan explained everything a Big Ten Official has to go through. I am so glad The Big Ten Conference made this possible for Linda and helped her make this happen. 5 stars for this book!! "

I met Linda at a book Fair in Sarasota. Her booth was packed... everyone wanted to talk with her... I ended up waiting because I bought 2 books and I wanted her to sign it. I grew up in Ohio and knew Woody Hayes former Ohio State Coach. She was a delite to finally meet since I knew her father well. She looks just like Dan. I read the book the minute I got home I could not put it down... I felt like I was at a game. Great job Linda & Dan!! He would of been proud Linda!

I was at Ohio State when Linda's father officiated with Coach Woody Hayes. He would of been proud. I met Linda when she did her book tour in 2009 right after the book was published. I asked her if she had any regrets? what would she have done different? She said she would of got this book published sooner. She said she wished she would of got this published when Woody was still alive.She stated There were many people my dad officiated with who were deceased when she finally got the book published. She regrets that. But she stated she lived by her father's rules and she would not change a thing in her life. She said her father taught me well and she lived and learned.

She has a personality that just brightens your day. her father would of been proud. Every time she has a book fair she is always the most popular.

Im looking forward to her book fairs again.she has been involved in so many organizations from Cancer for a cure... to Susan B Komen to the Alzheimer awareness walks. I met Linda in Ocala,Fl at the assisted living home where my mother started to live. Linda took a liking to mom from day one. We got to talking and she told about this book. I bought it and read it. It is a book about a man who loved his family, loved life, and loved his job as a college football official. Ms Davey did a fantastic job in fulfilling his dream of finishing the book. The book is a great inspiration about life’s challenges and rewards. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great read.
