A nigger is a place with no face in a race to go nowhere A nigger never had a dream to embrace and most of life Is a waste of time and space A nigger holds on to a bottle of jack just in case it needs A way to escape from being misplaced and mistaken for grace A nigger is mean, so it seems, it's dry & barren - no rivers no streams It doesn’t gleam and it’s not bright, but it schemes and screams and Lurks in the night, it has no self esteem yet somehow it thinks it’s supreme And does whatever it deems necessary to be seen and not redeemed It’s green with envy over the perceived phoneme.

About the Book
This is more than a book of poetry, it’s a story. Each verse and rhyme tells the tale of history, time and creation; the creation of the mind, heart and life of a person that could easily be you. Every word is a glimpse into an alternate reality, and every reality an indication of something far more absolute.
About the Author
A native New Yorker, Tanisha M. John, is an entrepreneur and Community Liaison who organizes events throughout Brooklyn. Introverted and sensitive as child, Tanisha began writing poetry at the age of eight as a way to express her personal thoughts and experiences. Over the years, Tanisha has compiled a unique collection of poetry based on an array of subjects such as love, social issues, personal revelation and reveries.
Along with her love of poetry, Tanisha’s interests include music, metaphysics and spirituality. She is currently working on a spoken word and music CD and the launch of her greeting card line, Day Dreamer. Her first book of poetry, Because of Love, was self-published in 1998 in a short run press.
