About the Book

For 47 years Carl Weast enjoyed his happy marriage and his family of five children. But when his wife Doris passed away, he was thrust into the most difficult fight of his life, struggling with grief and betrayal at the hands of his close family and relatives. Weast chronicles his trials, tribuuylations and subsequent healing process.

Everything in Weast's life stelled him for the events that would unravel after his first wife, Doris, died. told in vivid detaiil the book begans in his early childhood, enlistment into the Marines during the Korean War and his successful career at the Virginia Beach police department where he ascended from a patrolman to a captain of his own precinct through good judgment and sound instincts.

To add to his misery, Weast also discovered his late wife's journal, where she desplayed her mental illness and chronicled her numerous infidelities with other men throughout their marriage. Weast tellls of his struggles and how he managed to triump in the face of these odds. He writes:

Allowing someone to take advantage of you is the coward's way out. If you have done nothing wrong, you will come out the winner if you remain determined. You may lose some family members during the process, but that could be a good thing as well. When a large sum of money is involved, some family members will be extra nice to you while in reality they may be sitting back like vultures, just waiting to get their hands on your estate. I could be a blessing in disguise if you discover their intentions prior to your death.
