How Christmas Began
Long ago, a Man-Child was born;
A Child of prophecy whom wise men sought to adorn.
His birth was foretold by holy men anointed;
A Savior for all mankind in the time appointed.
Chosen of God, a virgin named Mary was blessed to be the Child’s mother;
Having never been touched by man she was counted worthy above any other.
Mary’s future husband Joseph, a righteous man, was in total obscurity;
He could not understand how Mary could be with child and yet claim purity.
As Joseph pondered these things in his heart, he drifted into sleep;
While in his slumber, an Angel of God appeared unto him to expound on this mystery so deep.
“The Child, explained the Angel, is the Son of the God of Host;
And Mary’s conception is that of the Holy Ghost.”
“Fear not, encouraged the Angel, and take her to be your wife;
For precious within her womb she carries Eternal Life!”
So Joseph married Mary and they went away from their kin;
They arrived at a town called Bethlehem and came to the town’s Inn.
The Innkeeper denied them entrance because there was no room where Mary could lay;
So Mary was taken to a stable of animals where the Child was born that day.
They named the baby JESUS according to God’s command;
And upon His birth did the heavenly host rejoice throughout all the land!
From that fateful day when Christ lay in His manger did CHRISTMAS begin;
A Perfect Present to the world, a Gift of Life in exchange for sin.
