About the Book

I wasn't born to be another face in the crowd; you see my parents taught me to stand proud. I was predestined to shine bright, although the forecast for my future given by many seemed darker than night.  Through the years upon my back many have climbed, trying to wear down this soul of mine. I've had my hands tied and blindfolds placed upon my eyes. When I was down some thought I was beat but momma taught me not to bow to defeat. This soul of mine has survived and I still have my mind. I may have been broken down, bruised and scarred but, it only taught me to have a deeper trust in the Lord. Trials and tribulation have plagued every goal in which I strived but through it all I have managed to survive. Now some wonder why my head is held high. Some may question the decisions I make. But I know the strong holds from which I've had to break. This soul of mine has survived and I still have my mind.

I give thanks to God for giving me the strength to live my life.  I am grateful for the ups and the downs; the laughter and the tears; the triumphs and the defeats.  I thank Him for the gift of poetry and the willingness to give confidence and support to others.  I also want to thank Abbie Rudolph and Erik Jefferson for sharing their talents in the creation of this book.  I hope the words on these pages touch the heart of the reader and add a measure of value to your life. At least, bring a smile to your face and a thought to your mind.

About the Author

Life to her is an amusement park, full of games, people, experiences and emotional rides. So she captures it in her writing.  It all started when she began college, she developed a love for success in every aspect of her life.  In her quest for success in personal relationships she realized it was not an easy task.  She realized she would fail more times than she succeeded.  Reluctant to admit defeat and to share her true feelings, she began to journal her thoughts. As the years went by her thoughts became poems.  Writing, teaching and learning are her passions.  She writes about feelings expressed as raw human emotions. This book written in first person represents her greatest achievement in life, being able to admit failures amidst success.
