SIESTA

Everybody does it –

Try to find inspiration in the heavenly stars

            or in the marvelous cacophony of nature’s sounds

                        or perhaps the esoteric silence of solitude.

Some choose to find it in something as lowly as a pebble

            or a blade of grass.

Do it, then, if it feels right.

Find your inspiration.

Just do it, relax, and be happy.

I’m finding it here in Mexico –

            over some piñacolada in a plastic cup

- with my feet wet and sandy –

- my skin sautéing from the heat, in spite of the shade.

I look at her, as she reads her cheesy novel, while baking bronze underneath the sun –
