About the Book

My poetry can best be described as a personal journey lived through depression. From childhood through adulthood I have existed with depression. I have always enjoyed reading and so with reading, the idea of writing poetry came to mind. Being able to express my emotions has played a big part on my road to recovery. Seeing people like myself has helped me give more understanding of how depression affects the mind. Through my poetry I have been able to talk of these emotions through faith in others who have helped me and through my faith in God who has never left me. I try to end my poetry not in negativity but with a purposeful emotion that will give the reader hope, a hope that he or she will someday reach, that pinnacle in their lives that will help them to see beyond that hopelessness of depression. About the Author

I was born Diane Marie Hicks at Brockton City Hospital, Brockton, Massachusetts. My parents are Mary and Henry Hicks. Today I am a wife and mother with a degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering.

My husband Stuart and I met while working for the same company. Stuart was the head Design Engineer while I was a novice to the engineering field. I was able to take to engineering with much fervor and creativity. Soon I was the first initiate in our company to learn CAD, Computer Aided Design. I was sent on several seminars to learn the latest version of CAD being used in the engineering field. After time I would teach other engineers the way to use CAD in engineering. I loved the creativity of engineering and one day I would have a patent in my name. I am very proud of this work.

My husband and I have three grown children, Joshua Nathan, Amy Teresa, and Benjamin Michael. They are our pride and joy.

I enjoy reading and writing poetry. My poetry talks about my emotions with the hopes that others who read my poetry will find some similarities to how they feel. I always try to end my poetry with a note of hope. For me hope is the single most important thing in my life with all the ups and downs I and my family have been through. I have also written a triology of books dealing with my biography my childhood to present day.
