About the Book

About the Author

Bobby Miguel was born in New York City during the middle of the Depression.  The second of four children born to hard working Puerto Rican parents, he learned early on that life was a struggle.  Moving to the Bronx during World War II, he learned to survive in the streets, got involved with gangs, which landed him in prison.  He marries his high school sweetheart at an early age, but trouble was soon to follow.  He becomes addicted to drugs and begins a cycle of addiction, incarceration, and attempts at rehabilitation.  Later, through the influence of a Christian leader he enters a rehabilitation farm in Upstate New York.  This is when his recovery truly begins and when the seed is planted, that will lead him to New Haven and his mission to help others afflicted by addiction.  Assisted by other ex-addicts and the support of the spiritual and secular communities, he begins to lay the foundation for the first Hispanic treatment program for men in Connecticut.     Crossroads, Inc. opened its doors in 1973 and continues giving hope to men and women desperately seeking treatment.   Bobby Miguel is an example that change is possible, and every good boy does fine.  Now retired, Crossroads still carries on his vision of recovery and now serves a multicultural population.  Bobby Miguel continues giving back, and shares his story so that others will be inspired to change and not give up.
