Lola exclaimed, “Oh My!”
“What’s wrong?” Quackers asked.
Lola pointed to a window, then the next and the next. Duckie was inside the building, riding on the moving belt. He slowly made his way past the first window, the next window, then the next window and then several windows before he disappeared.
“What is he doing?” said Quackers.
“There is something brown all over him,” exclaimed Lola. “I think it is chocolate and what is on his legs?”
“How did he get inside there anyway?” Quackers asked.
They stood there, looking at Duckie. He quickly appeared, again. Grandma Hattie was now at their side. She wanted to know where Duckie was. The two cousins pointed toward the candy factory.
There was a loud bang! Duckie had dropped from the overhead door, right into the back of the truck. His fluffy yellow feathers were now dripping with brown goo. He was having a good time but grandma was tapping her toe and there was not a smile on her face. My, oh my! She was not happy.

About the Book
Meet Duckie Dan, a cute furry little duck, who has a desire to travel and have lots of friends. Dan is mischievous and sometimes his curiosity gets him into trouble on his journeys. An unscheduled trip inside a candy factory leaves him a little gooey.
Dan is an only-child and seeks out others to join him and enjoy his life with granny. Grandma Hattie made the mistake of saying, “There is always room for one more!”

Through her writing and illustration, Penelope’s little critters struggle with the things children face in today’s world. She addresses children’s issue by having Duckie Dan living with his grandma; making new friends, showing all the differences they have from others and how they overcome loneliness.
