There were approximately ten people gathered around the storm sewer as the mother duck stood by squawking for help for her babies. Our small group of strangers was diverse and from all walks of life. I was in my work attire, a tow truck driver was in a tee shirt and his blue jeans. A middle age woman was in her business suit and had just gotten off the express bus.

About the Book
This Little Village, is a true story of a group of individuals working together to accomplish a common goal. Children and adults can relate to the village rescuing these little ducklings from almost utter disaster. Themes of commonality will reinforce and improve working together, demonstrating caring, critical thinking by individuals, translates into Social Action where everyone brings something to the table.
About the Author
Joseph Darling Blake, hails from Bamberg, South Carolina, a little village of sorts , where citizens farmed together, worshiped together and teamed up to help neighbors. His early upbringing instilled in him a sense of community and good citizenship. Joseph Blake lives in Staten Island, New York with his wife Margaret and their three children Tara,Gerard,RitaMarie, one of his grandchildren Lilah Mae, and their pet Coco, a miniature Doberman Pincher. It was his upbringing that made him feel right at home as he became a part of a unique group coming together to achieve a common goal. Joseph achieved his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work at The College for Human Services. Currently he is employed with the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation where he is an Administrator, in The Department of Behavioral Health. Helping others has always been a part of Joe Blake's life.
